Dante was one of the demons by Charioce XVII's knights and taken to Anatae as prisoners. He was deeply discontent with his new life and sought a means to escape. Prior to meeting with Azazel, Dante had not yet successfully found a way to incite a rebellion.
Azazel, more famously known as "The Ragged Demon", discovered Dante and Belphegor and opt to try and free the pair. However, Charioce XVII was prepared for such an attempt and had set up a trap beforehand, and thus the three demons became surrounded when they tried to flee the city.
