The God Key is one of two keys used to seal away Bahamut.

History

The God Key was created by Zeus during his battle with Bahamut 2,000 years ago. Zeus turned himself into the God Key while Satan turned himself into the Demon Key in order to seal Bahamut away.

Their efforts proved successful. Bahamut's body was encased in a seal in Abos while the God Key was taken to Temple Ark and the Demon Key to Helheim.

Zeus lived on as the God Key while the position of Heaven's ruler fell to Gabriel, an archangel. The God Key was heavily guarded by the gods, of who some mourn the loss of Zeus.

Plot

Gilles de Rais devised a plan to revive Bahamut and bring about the end of the world. To this end, he convinced Belzebuth to create a half-demon/half-angel child from Belzebuth's own essence, and use the child as a bearer for both the God and Demon Keys.

This child was Amira. Gilles de Rais informed Amira that she needed the God Key in order to reunite with her mother Nicole in Helheim. Amira promptly stole the God Key using an incantation known only to gods and absorbed the God Key into her soul, thus turning Amira into the God Key itself.

As she lacked human blood, Amira's absorption of the God Key could not be undone. The gods also couldn't take her back to the holy land due to her demon blood. Amira's actions also led her to be hunted down by the Orleans Knights and the demons. Under Gilles de Rais's manipulation, Amira ultimately absorbed the Demon Key as well, becoming the Transcendence Key.

Bahamut was revived once it had fused with Amira, an incident which was permanent.

Trivia

  • Amira refers to her theft of the God Key as "The incident".
